About Us
Godalming Swimming Club, based in Godalming, Surrey, is seeking a new Head Coach who is passionate, enthusiastic, and a team player.
We are a SwimMark-accredited club, based at Godalming Leisure Centre, with over 200 swimmers ranging from Swim England Learn to Swim Level 7, up to and including County/Regional levels, Para and Masters. We are an inclusive and friendly club with a growing membership in both age group and masters, a dedicated team of coaches, a forward‑thinking committee and helpful volunteers all with the aim of supporting and developing swimmers to achieve their potential.
As a club, we participate in the Arena League and, jointly with Haslemere and Farnham Swimming Club, we organise three open meets per year.
Personal Qualities

* Competent administrator, well organised, with the ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, coaches, the committee, and the wider club.
Responsibilities
* Oversee delivery of the club’s development pathway.
* Oversee an annual plan for competitions which aligns with the development pathway.
* Organise regular team meetings and mentor coaching staff.
* Liaise with coaching staff to oversee squad management – session plans, swimmer recruitment/moves, personal plans.
* Coach management – monitor and report hours, rosters, mentoring, and continuing professional development (CPD).
* Attend competitions (including at weekends) – internal club meets, team galas, open meets, County/Regional Championships.
* Lead Coach for one competitive squad.
* Liaise with the coaching team to cover absences when necessary.
* Work with the Personal Trainer who manages Land Training for the club to agree programme.
* Ensure compliance with Safeguarding and Wavepower.
* Represent the Club as necessary to form and continue good relations with the County, Region, and neighbouring clubs.
Leadership Skills
* Active engagement as a member of the Committee, including in setting the club’s direction.
* Effective communication within the Club to all parties.
Working Hours
Approximately 8–10 hours per week coaching, over 5 evenings plus competition attendance some weekends, coaching team management and administrative hours to support this, which may vary from week to week.
