Overview
A Vacancy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a new substantive Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join our department at Ipswich Hospital, part of ESNEFT.
This post has been developed as we expand our permanent workforce. We are a strong and supportive department looking for a long-term colleague who can bring their own skills and attributes to the team.

Substantive Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine based at Ipswich Hospital, ESNEFT.
Relocation and Benefits
* Relocation package of £7,000
* Additional £20,000 lump sum
* 1.5 additional ‘SPA’ time for the first 24 months
Relocation expenses are available for successful candidates. The successful candidate will normally reside within 10 miles by road of the main hospital base or within a 30-minute travel time for non-resident on-call duties to ensure attendance at urgent and emergency cases. Some consultants live further away during the week but stay locally when on call. Advice can be sought at visits regarding relocation areas.
Roles and Responsibilities
All consultants in the department have an ongoing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide an effective Service to meet the needs of the local population, within available resources.
The proposed timetable for the post is indicative and may be negotiable following appointment depending on interests and service needs. The appointed colleague will have the opportunity to review their job plan after 3 months with the clinical director/clinical lead and then annually. The tentative job plan includes:
* Clinical sessions - 8.5 PA DCC (including on call and clinical admin)
* 1.5 SPA
* TOTAL = 10 PA
The provisional job plan can be provided on request to the clinical lead.
Additional Roles and On-Call Arrangements
Additional roles may be offered after settlement, subject to mutual agreement, which may require onsite non-clinical work. These will be remunerated through APA within the job plan. If appropriate, the appointee may be named as an anaesthetic trainee Educational Supervisor. Educational supervision is paid at 0.25 PA per trainee (maximum 0.75 PA).
Any pre-existing consultant-level NHS responsibilities will be discussed at interview and accommodated by mutual agreement.
If private practice is undertaken, the appointee must offer the Trust an 11th PA prior to such arrangements (as per Terms and Conditions).
