Our client, a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity to take pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented learning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school site, supporting with general maintenance, health and safety checks, security, and liaising with contractors as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the site is clean, safe, and secure at all times
Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems
Open and lock up the school daily, including setting alarms
Support the school with setup for events and deliveries
Conduct regular site checks and health and safety assessments
Liaise with external contractors and services as needed
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, or maintenance role (desirable)
Strong DIY and problem-solving skills
A proactive and trustworthy attitude
Awareness of health and safety regulations
Good communication and organisational skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the school
