Job Description
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the development and delivery of Battery Disconnect Units (BDUs) and connector systems for next-generation electric and hybrid vehicle platforms.
In this role, you will take full commodity ownership, working closely with industry-leading suppliers and internal engineering teams to deliver robust, compliant, and innovative solutions that meet demanding programme and regulatory standards.

Your main responsibilities will be:
* Act as the commodity owner for battery disconnect and connector systems, managing the full lifecycle from development through to supplier engagement.
* Conduct and manage electrothermal analysis, component sizing, and assessment of failure modes for key battery and BEM (Battery Energy Management) components.
* Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure compliance with automotive standards and regulatory requirements (especially LV and U.S. regulations).
* Support functional safety initiatives in alignment with ISO 26262 and similar standards.
* Guide integration of contactors, fuses, current sensors, and other battery-related components into larger vehicle systems.
* Anticipate and mitigate risks through early design reviews, robust specifications, and cross-functional coordination.
* Support the delivery of energy system components to meet project targets on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
* Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Prior experience with battery systems, disconnect units, or power electronics in the automotive sector.
* Strong understanding of BEM components, including contactors, fuses, and current sensors.
* Familiarity with ISO 26262 or other functional safety standards.
* Knowledge of U.S. automotive regulations and low voltage systems.
* Proven ability to engage and manage suppliers through design, validation, and launch phases.
* Excellent technical problem-solving and communication skills.
* Experience with design and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Catia, etc.) is a plus.
