Overview
Personal Assistant required for a happy and active 10‑year‑old boy who lives in the St Eval/Wadebridge area. He is severely autistic with dyspraxia and has difficulty with sensory processing, and would like someone who can build a positive relationship with him and provide 1:1 support.
Responsibilities
* Support the boy’s independence when out in the community.
* Engage with him in activities he enjoys such as waterplay, exploring beaches, parks and woods, visiting shops and observing surroundings.
* Assist him in becoming more self‑directed and reduce reliance on his family.
* Provide companionship and ensure his wellbeing during planned outings.
Requirements
* Some knowledge or personal experience working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
* Car driver preferred with business class insurance.
* Willingness to work up to 10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and availability on weekends and school holidays.
Compensation
Good rate of pay at £13 per hour.
Employment Details
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and will not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
