Due to the continued expansion of Birchwood School, we are delighted to be recruiting an additional Teacher to join our dedicated team in Cardiff. Birchwood School, part of Orbis Education & Care, supports children and young people with Autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, and complex barriers to learning. About the Role
As a Teacher at Birchwood School, you will deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences tailored to each pupil’s individual needs. You’ll work closely with learning support assistants, therapists, care staff and families to create a positive, inclusive classroom where pupils can thrive academically, emotionally and socially.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planning and delivering differentiated lessons aligned to individual learning needs
2. Creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment
3. Using positive behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
4. Monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress
5. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers
6. Supporting pupils’ wellbeing, including personal care where required
7. Promoting safeguarding, equality and inclusion at all times
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
8. GCSEs (A*–C or equivalent), including English and Maths
9. A child-centred approach and passion for inclusive education
10. Strong classroom management and communication skills
11. Ability to adapt teaching methods to support complex needs
12. Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Desirable:
13. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
14. Experience working with pupils with Autism, SEMH or additional learning needs
15. Confidence working within a multidisciplinary team
16. A creative, flexible and reflective approach to teaching and learning
