Construction Manager - West Cumbria. Build the infrastructure that shapes the UK — and lead teams who take pride in doing it the right way. We’re looking for a Construction Manager who brings strong leadership, technical capability, and a passion for delivering high‑quality work safely and efficiently.

What You Will Do

* Oversee day‑to‑day site delivery from mobilisation through to handover.
* Lead teams through daily briefings, toolbox talks, and inspections.
* Coordinate labour, plant, materials, logistics, and subcontractors.
* Support temporary works, QA processes, and design reviews.
* Work closely with commercial teams on costs, production rates, and forecasting.
* Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and teams.


What You’ll Bring

* Experience across civil engineering projects with leadership responsibilities.
* Certifications: SMSTS, IOSH, CSCS, First Aid, Work at Heights, SHED, Black Hat.
* Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
* A proactive, calm, improvement-focused mindset.

About Carey Group

Our story starts in 1969 with three brothers and a van. John, Tom and Pat Carey moved to London from Ireland and started a groundworks contracting company in London called PJ Carey Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd. Their aspirations at the time were reflective of the values of the Carey Group today – to care about everything they did, to act with humility in all interactions, to be passionate about their work and be authentic at all times.
