Principal Consultant - ICT, Network and Security Engineering (Buildings and Infrastructure) The Jacobs Cities & Places team create thriving places - from regions, cities, neighbourhoods & communities through to individual buildings - and the critical infrastructure and facilities that support them, all through an integrated design approach. Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, designers, place-makers, technology experts and project managers to provide collaborative and coordinated design solutions for our clients, both domestically and internationally. Due to our expanding portfolio and long-term expansion plan, we have an immediate need for a Principal to lead business development and project delivery activities for our ICT and Security team, reporting directly to our Director of ICT and Security, and providing solutions for buildings and infrastructure, including in the Defence and Critical National Infrastructure sectors. In business development, you'll be responsible for working with our Buildings, Infrastructure and Defence teams to offer services to our clients in those sectors, as well as building relationships with clients yourself. In delivery, as well as overseeing and producing designs for secure ICT systems, you will be responsible for advising on the security of systems to support the overall buildings and infrastructure design process, and for coordinating with other disciplines on the overall security solution for those facilities. You will be responsible for both client facing work and the support of multi-disciplinary project teams. In both roles, you'll report to the Director of ICT and Security, and will need to be able to demonstrate leadership, professionalism and an inquisitive approach, showing a desire to explore innovative ideas while still understanding the need for a good commercial balance. You should have considerable experience working within the Telecommunications sector ideally in Building Services or Infrastructure Engineering Design within a Consultancy, with experience in the infrastructure, CNI and Defence sectors. You will need sound working knowledge of AutoCad & Revit MEP and industry standard design software. There is a requirement to coordinate teams and mentor / coach more junior project members so being able to comfortably support the team whilst maintaining standards in work and efficiency is vital. You will be working across all RIBA stages from Feasibility to Project Handover for Construction and engaging with clients, partners and subcontractors. The position requires a hybrid working pattern in Birmingham, London, Manchester or Bristol. Due to the secure nature and specific requirements of many of our clients, this role requires a Sole UK National with SC clearance. Essential Experience: * Significant experience in ICT for buildings, with a strong understanding of integrating these systems into a cohesive building design * A sole UK National with valid current SC clearance; or to have recently held SC clearance and be willing to re-apply for it * Demonstrated experience in business development and project delivery * Familiarity with working to UK, US and international standards for security and ICT system design, including in the Defence and CNI sectors, and with the suppliers of relevant systems * Familiar with and well connected within the UK Defence and CNI sectors and and their clients, including organisations such as DIO, National Grid, airports and accreditors such as PSyA and SCIDA * Expert in communications and relationship building * Experienced in writing reports and specifications, and reading and understanding project briefs * Experienced in working with multiple disciplinary design teams and partners * Experienced in delivering both technical and commercial elements of proposals * Demonstrated experience in designing some of the following systems: * Data Communications and Networking Systems * Secure and non-secure communications systems and installations, including shielded facilities * Public Address and General Alarm Systems * Digital Trunked Mobile Radio Systems * Structured Cabling Infrastructure (copper and fibre optic) * Voice Communication Systems * External Plant Cable Network Design * Wireless Network Architecture * Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Systems * Cable management systems and cable sizing * Relevant calculations such as bandwidth, signal loss, and link loss budgets * Video Surveillance Systems (CCTV/IPTV) for accredited use on high security or defence projects * Electronic Access Control Systems * Intruder Detection Systems * Intercom Systems * Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems * Understanding the role of physical security measures in securing assets, including gates, barriers, fences, and lighting * Radar systems Additional Skills, Qualifications and Personal Characteristics * MCIBSE, IET accreditation or similar, or demonstrable equivalent experience * Education to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge * Good communication skills * Project Management experience * An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance https://careers.jacobs.com/en_US/careers/JobDetail/38013 Birmingham|West Midlands|United Kingdom London|Greater London|United Kingdom Bristol|Bristol City|United Kingdom Manchester|Greater Manchester|United Kingdom Information Technology Cities & Places Joining Jacobs not only connects you locally but globally.
