Softcat's internal Technology Team is undergoing an exciting transformation; this evolution aims to provide greater opportunities for our people's professional development and prepare us to execute our more ambitious technology strategy effectively. We are passionate about what we do, how we do it and the positive impact our technologies have on the lives of our employees and customers.

Success. The Softcat Way.

As one of the UK's leading IT infrastructure providers and a FTSE 250 listed company, we have built a reputation for excellence. Our strategy is simple – we believe that highly engaged employees are the key to building customer trust and loyalty over the years. This trust and loyalty, combined with our market‑leading growth and performance, enable us to invest in our technology and services capabilities. This investment drives even more engaged employees. We are committed to giving everyone the opportunity to step up and show how much they can achieve. Our success is truly a collective effort – we succeed when all our people succeed.

As an Analytics Engineer within Softcat's Internal Technology team, you will play a key role in delivering trusted, scalable analytics and reporting capabilities across the organisation. Working as part of the Analytics Platform team, you will design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models while contributing to the operation and continuous improvement of the Power BI / Microsoft Fabric platform. Your work will ensure that data across the business is reliable, well‑modelled, and accessible, enabling teams to make confident, data‑driven decisions.

As the Analytics Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

* Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, aligned to enterprise standards for usability, performance, and governance.
* Design and deliver reusable data products, including datasets and semantic models, aligned to business needs.
* Develop, manage, and optimise semantic models, applying dimensional modelling techniques to support scalable analytics.
* Implement KPI definitions in line with governed metric frameworks, ensuring consistency across datasets and reports.
* Translate business requirements into structured and scalable analytical solutions, balancing user needs with technical best practice.
* Enable self‑service analytics through reusable datasets, templates, and guidance for business users.

We'd love you to have:

* Strong experience building reports and dashboards using Power BI, including DAX and performance optimisation.
* Solid understanding of dimensional modelling (e.g., star schemas, relationships, hierarchies).
* Experience building and managing semantic models aligned to governed data structures and reusable datasets.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric (semantic models, datasets, platform capabilities).
* SQL expertise for data querying, transformation, and analysis.
* Strong understanding of data modelling principles (dimensional modelling, star‑schema design).

We also acknowledge that the confidence gap and imposter syndrome are real things and can affect us all – please don't hesitate to apply – we would love to hear from you!

* Flexibility around school pick‑up and drop‑offs.

Wherever you work, we want you to experience the freedom and autonomy to realise your potential. You will feel supported by a team that celebrates individuality, encourages different perspectives, and embraces every background.

To become part of the success story, please apply now.
