Intervention Specialist (SEMH) – SEN School – Dover
We are recruiting a dedicated and resilient Intervention Specialist to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialist SEN school in Dover.
Role
This varied and rewarding position combines targeted intervention work with in‑class support. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions aimed at improving behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement, while also providing hands‑on support as a Teaching Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver targeted interventions focusing on behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills
* Support pupils with SEMH needs who may display challenging behaviour
* Monitor and track student progress and adapt interventions accordingly
* Provide in‑class TA support to keep pupils engaged in lessons
* Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote trust and consistency
* Implement behaviour‑management strategies in line with school policies
* Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience with children or young people with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
* Previous experience delivering interventions (education, youth work, or care settings)
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills
* The ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
* A proactive and adaptable mindset
