Job summary: An exciting opportunity to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are recruiting a highly motivated registered nurse to pursue a career in infection prevention and control. This vacancy is open to internal and external staff and we welcome applications from experienced RGN, RMN, LD and District Nursing colleagues. Based at Darwen Health Centre, the position will cover visits across the LSCFT footprint. Full training and support will be provided, with opportunity to undertake an infection prevention qualification if desired.
Responsibilities
* The IPC Practitioner will support staff and patients within the Trust by giving advice on IPC issues relating to IPC practices and patient care in all wards and community settings, recording this advice on electronic record keeping systems.
* Take a prominent role in undertaking IPC audits within patient environments and community clinic settings. Deliver training bespoke to service needs and maintain the IPC Link Worker role.
* Maintain a clinical presence within the Trust; undertake clinical visits when alerted to outbreaks, patient infections or cleanliness standards are compromised.
* Demonstrate a keen interest in infection prevention and the ability to support all grades of staff to ensure high standards of IPC are maintained within the organisation.
* Demonstrate the ability to motivate others, prioritise tasks, and work in a methodical manner. Be computer literate and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Qualifications
* Essential: NMC Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Essential: Relevant 1st degree (or working towards this) or evidence of significant professional development
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
* Knowledge – Range of clinical knowledge/experience; knowledge of the principles of infection prevention and control, including healthcare associated infection and transmission of infection, and how these principles are applied in various healthcare settings; experience with change management.
* Experience – Range of clinical knowledge/experience; team management; teaching/education in formal and informal situations.
* Skills – Experience of analysing and presenting data; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously.
