RTX has the capabilities, comprehensive portfolio and expertise to solve customers’ toughest challenges and to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving market. RTX comprises 3 key businesses; Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon, with the UK being predominantly Collins Aerospace.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Placement Student to join our People Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The UK and Ireland People Services team serves as the first point of contact for HR advice and guidance, supporting employees and managers across our 21 sites, which collectively employ around 7,600 people. Our team operates across three tiers:

1. Tier 0 – A self-service online portal for HR queries

2. Tier 1 – Handling general HR queries, providing advice and guidance, and managing HR administration

3. Tier 2 – Delivering specialised support for more complex cases

This Tier 1 role is customer-focused, fast-paced, and offers an incredible opportunity to gain some broad hands-on HR experience with specific focus on employee life events, flexible working applications, and entry-level payroll functions.

What you will do:

7. Deliver high quality customer service whilst managing cases from varied employee groups, across multiple communication channels including email, phone and our online portal

8. Adhere to established HR processes, knowledge, policies, company guidelines and regulations to resolve simple customer queries

9. Actively engage with and apply continuous improvement methodology to identify improvement opportunities and support process optimisation activities

10. Over time and supported by the team, you will provide first-line HR support to employees and managers including providing simple HR policy and process advice across the employee lifecycle. You will use our CRM system ServiceNow to proactively administer cases, manage customer expectations and adhere to SLAs

What will you learn:

We expect that you will be just starting your career so we will delight in training and supporting you through your career journey. You will be guided by a large, experienced and friendly team as well as comprehensive standard job instructions to help you succeed.

This placement offers a valuable opportunity to gain some broad HR experience within a large organisation, covering key areas such as HR processes, HRIT systems, and payroll and will serve as an excellent stepping stone for a future career in HR

Qualifications and experience we prefer:

12. You will be eager to learn and committed to achieving both business and personal results whilst working collaboratively in a fast-paced customer service environment, operating to agreed targets and SLAs

13. Able to deliver great customer service to a wide range of employees, handling sensitive information appropriately with discretion and integrity

14. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and able to verbally coach customers over the phone or on Zoom.

15. Strong attention to detail to ensure high levels of accuracy in work

16. Proficient in IT with strong expertise in Microsoft Office applications
