Eligibility Criteria
* BSc or MSc Nursing (any specialisation) and Midwifery students who have completed at least one full acute care placement within an NHS trust.
* University Health students (Medicine / Nursing / Midwifery / Physiotherapy / Paramedicine / Occupational Therapy etc.) who have had a significant amount of prior experience (6+ months within the last 12 months) working as a Healthcare Assistant / Healthcare Support Worker in an NHS acute care Trust.
Main Duties
* Monitoring and recording baseline observations for all patients under your daily allocation (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.).
* Escalation of any issues to the relevant registered member of staff (e.g., Nurse, doctor) if a patient’s condition deteriorates.
* Provision of individual holistic care, including personal care, continence assistance and meal‑time assistance.
* Cleaning of equipment and ward areas as required.
* Procurement and handling of clinical samples / swabs.
Uniform and initial training will be provided. The shortened induction includes an eight‑hour theory session followed by a minimum of two six‑hour supervised ward shifts.

Qualifications and Experience
* City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 / T levels / A levels in Care / Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or significant equivalent experience.
* Some previous experience in a nursing / care assistant role.
* Clear and effective reading and writing in English.
