Cardiff West Community High School is seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised Estates Manager to lead the management, development and safety of our school site and facilities.
This is a key strategic role within the school, supporting the Business Manager, Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and Governors to ensure that our learning environment is safe, well-maintained, secure and fit for the future.

The Role
As Estates Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the management of the school site and associated facilities. This includes:
•Strategic planning and leadership of premises, maintenance, security and facilities services
•Managing and supervising estates staff and overseeing cleaning staff and external contractors
•Leading on health and safety compliance, including fire safety, asbestos, legionella and statutory checks
•Managing maintenance programmes (planned, reactive and cyclical) and associated budgets
•Overseeing site security, alarm systems, CCTV and emergency response arrangements
•Supporting lettings, capital projects and contractor procurement
•Contributing to environmental sustainability and efficient resource management
You will play a vital role in ensuring our school environment supports high-quality teaching, learning and wellbeing.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
•Has significant experience in estates, buildings or facilities management (ideally within an educational or similar environment)
•Has strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, compliance and best practice
•Demonstrates excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills
•Is confident managing budgets, contracts and teams
•Is flexible and responsive, with the ability to manage emergencies and occasional out-of-hours work
•Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. IOSH essential; NEBOSH, project management or building-related qualifications desirable)
A full driving licence is required.
