Assistant Management Accountant York | £30,000 - £35,000 DOE | Full-Time, Permanent Are you an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in your accounting career? We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant on behalf of a growing and well-established business based in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA candidate to join a supportive finance team and gain exposure to management accounting, business partnering, and commercial finance activities. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the production of management accounts and financial reporting, whilst supporting the wider finance function with analysis and process improvements. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts Produce and maintain accruals, prepayments, and journal entries Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances Support budgeting and forecasting processes Prepare monthly financial reports and KPI analysis Assist with cash flow reporting and monitoring Analyse business performance and provide meaningful financial insights Support year-end audit activities and statutory reporting requirements Assist with process improvement initiatives across the finance function Liaise with departmental managers to provide financial information and support Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures About You AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA Previous experience within a Management Accounts, Assistant Accountant, Finance Analyst, or similar finance role Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Highly organised with excellent attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across departments What's on Offer Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience Study support available for ACCA/CIMA candidates Opportunity to progress within a growing finance team Exposure to management accounting and commercial finance responsibilities Supportive and collaborative working environment Generous holiday allowance and company benefits package This position would suit an ambitious finance professional looking to build upon their accounting experience and develop towards a future Management Accountant role.
