An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Claims Investigator in the Civil Claims Team of the Essex Police Legal Department based at Essex Police Headquarters in Chelmsford.
The post is for 30 hours per week during a Monday – Friday working pattern, working pattern will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
You will assist in the day-to-day management of civil claims cases ensuring that deadlines are not missed and responses are sent and court documents filed in a timely manner. You will undertake administrative tasks to assist the Civil Claims Lawyer and Civil Claims Manager such as (amongst other tasks) organising interviews with witnesses, taking statements, organising conferences with Counsel or external solicitors, preparing statistics and reports as required to assist with risk management and identification of trends and or as requested by stakeholder department / agencies.
Successful candidates must demonstrate the following in their application:
1. Strong IT and organisation skills, together with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing them to converse effectively across a broad spectrum of people from members of the public to Chief Officers.
4. The ability to work under your own initiative and to take in information quickly and accurately before making decisions.

Essex Police offer agile working which allows some flexibility in terms of work arrangements. Due to the operational nature of this role, it will be predominantly office based within an office-based team. Some travel may be required to other police sites to discharge duty.
