About the Role
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Teaching & Research role is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Education-Focused academic capacity in the Discipline of Critical Care across the School, fostering excellence in clinical education and supporting the next generation of medical professionals. The role will ensure consistent, high-quality teaching, coordination, and curriculum development across the St George and Sutherland Clinical Campuses and in the School of Clinical Medicine.
A Lecturer (Level B) is expected to develop scholarly research and professional activities nationally and internationally and to contribute to the teaching and service missions of the School and Faculty. A Senior Lecturer (Level C) will conduct high-quality research and contribute to educational excellence in the School and Faculty. This role provides clinical teaching, educational and research leadership on the St George Hospital campus, with a preference for a Critical Care field of specialization.
The role reports to the Head of St George and Sutherland Clinical Campuses and the relevant Head of Discipline, with no direct reports.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Medical qualification registerable in NSW and specialist training, preferably in a Critical Care field.
* Commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Experience in teaching and learning design across undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (discipline-based curriculum design and development).
* Knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning (desirable).
* Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Proven research track record with high-quality, high-impact outcomes and leadership potential.
* Involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* Strong communication skills and ability to network with students and staff.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
