Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for problem‑solving and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a Shift‑Based Engineer to join our team in Trafford. This hands‑on role will keep the site running smoothly through effective planned and reactive maintenance, while driving improvements in performance, efficiency, and quality. It’s an exciting opportunity to reduce downtime, support production, and coach teams to build a strong problem‑solving culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and automation issues to keep production on track.
* Resolve root‑cause problems for lasting solutions.
* Support the production team through coaching, communication and collaborative work.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety standards.
* Participate in continuous improvement and capital projects to enhance site efficiency.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs and spare parts inventory.
* Share knowledge and coach colleagues across shifts.
* Contribute to KPI delivery through downtime reduction, line efficiency, quality and safety.
What We’re Looking For
* Engineering Apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical or multi‑skilled).
* ONC or BTEC equivalent (HNC desirable).
* Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and automation systems.
* Solid problem‑solving and analytical skills, with experience in root‑cause analysis.
* Proficiency with maintenance management systems/software.
* Understanding of GMP, health & safety and food safety standards.
* Experience delivering both planned and unplanned maintenance in a fast‑paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
* A continuous improvement mindset.
