Responsibilities
* Work onsite in our Cambridgeshire client offices 2–3 days per week.
* Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies, contract selection, and value‑management techniques.
* Formulate, update, and present the final cost plan, ensuring cost planning, budgeting and estimation accuracy.
* Negotiate, agree and manage final accounts in compliance with contractual requirements.
* Act as a key interface with clients, stakeholders and other consultants throughout all project stages.
* Handle contractual frameworks and standardised contract forms.
* Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost‑management procedures, templates, and services offered to clients.
* Identify and implement improvements to internal systems and processes to increase efficiency.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a cost/commercial consultancy practice in a similar role.
* Experience working on large‑scale projects in the water sector.
* Proven NEC contract management skills (essential).
* Strong background in cost planning, budgeting and estimating.
* Experience with risk management.
* Sound knowledge of contract administration and the ability to advise on it.
* Knowledge of value engineering and life‑cycle costing.
* Strong understanding of industry best practice.
* Awareness of sustainability, social value, and carbon‑reduction issues impacting the public sector.
* Capability to conduct CapEx/OpEx cost analysis and provide advice.
* Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, cost management or an equivalent discipline.
* NEC PM Accreditation is desirable.
