5 days contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • A reliable and organised Admin/Reception Assistant is required to provide short-term front-facing support within a nursery or early years setting. • The role involves carrying out general administrative duties, managing reception tasks, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors. • This is a temporary assignment ideal for individuals with experience in administration and a background or interest in early years or education support. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Provide reception cover, greeting parents, carers, children, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. • Support day-to-day administrative functions including data entry, record keeping, filing, and handling phone and email enquiries. • Assist staff with scheduling appointments and managing attendance registers. • Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is filed securely and in line with data protection policies. • Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed when managing visitor access and sign-in procedures. • Support nursery staff with the preparation of materials, communication with families, and general administrative tasks. • Monitor supplies and report any shortfalls in stationery or equipment to the appropriate team. • Respond to routine queries from parents or carers, escalating more complex issues where necessary. • Contribute to a positive and efficient working environment within the nursery/reception area. Skills/Experience: • Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role, preferably in an educational, childcare, or care setting. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other administrative systems. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently. • Understanding of safeguarding procedures, particularly in a setting with children or vulnerable individuals. • Friendly and approachable manner with a customer-service mindset. • Basic knowledge of First Aid (desirable). • Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy or sensitive environment.
