Are you an expert in climate and sustainability, with a passion for driving meaningful change through influencing decision-making at senior levels? AXA UK is seeking an Environment and Sustainability Manager to deliver our Climate & ESG strategy across the UK Property, Procurement and Operations (PP&O) function. You’ll lead the implementation and management of initiatives which aim to improve the environmental performance of the UK Property estate, General Expenses (GenEx), and IT Expenses supply chain, as well as wider operational activities. You’ll collaborate effectively with Group and other AXA entities to roll-out ‘best practice’ methodology, supporting AXA’s ambitious climate targets.
At AXA, we promote flexible working, allowing you to balance your time between home and office, with at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Locations include Bristol, Bolton, Ipswich, or Manchester, with options for industry events or client visits. Flexible arrangements can be discussed with Talent Acquisition.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Implement PP&O Climate initiatives and manage UK operational climate metrics submissions to meet Group targets and regulatory requirements (e.g., CSRD, SECR), including CFO sign-off where necessary.
2. Act as the primary contact for AXA UK on Climate & ESG matters affecting the PP&O function, liaising with Group, business teams, and external stakeholders.
3. Deliver action-oriented presentations, build relationships, and maintain market knowledge.
4. Manage a Sustainable Procurement Analyst (direct report), supporting their responsibilities such as reducing Scope 3.1 emissions and increasing inclusive & diverse third-party spend, through performance management and coaching.
5. Oversee utilities procurement (gas, electricity), managing relationships with energy suppliers, consultants, and brokers.
6. Collaborate with the Data & Reporting team to maintain a database of climate metrics, supporting reporting and environmental initiatives to reduce AXA UK’s carbon footprint.
What you’ll bring:
1. Relevant degree or equivalent in Environmental Management, Climate & ESG (UK undergraduate or similar).
2. Membership of IEMA; Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 is desirable but not essential.
3. Strong communication and presentation skills, with assertiveness to influence senior stakeholders.
4. Networking skills to engage stakeholders, suppliers, and external parties.
5. Understanding of relevant legislation such as CSRD reporting, ESOS audits, and action plans.
6. Ability to analyze data and derive insights from Climate & ESG databases.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; PowerBI experience is a plus.
8. Experience in Property & Operations processes, driving change, and managing ambiguity.
Eligibility to work in the UK is a precondition for employment.
