Farm Engineer – Telford – £45,000
Job Overview
We are working with a progressive farming business looking to recruit a capable Farm Engineer to support the maintenance, repair and development of on‑farm machinery and equipment. This is a hands‑on, workshop and field‑based role requiring work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and through busy peak periods.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs across a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment.
* Diagnose faults and ensure timely, effective fixes to minimise downtime.
* Inspect, remove and replace components in line with manufacturer guidelines.
* Support machinery builds, modifications and improvements within the workshop.
* Assist with fabrication and machining of parts where required.
* Test mechanical, low‑voltage electrical and pneumatic systems, recording findings accurately.
* Maintain clear and accurate documentation of work carried out.
* Plan and prioritise workload efficiently, particularly during busy seasonal periods.
* Report faults, breakdowns or safety concerns promptly.
* Work in line with all health & safety requirements, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others.
* Use appropriate PPE at all times.
* Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
* Report any incidents, near misses or equipment issues immediately.
The Candidate
* Proven experience working with agricultural or similar machinery.
* Strong mechanical knowledge, with some electrical and pneumatic understanding.
* Practical, hands‑on approach with good problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
* Good attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
* Reliable, punctual and able to work flexibly in line with seasonal demands.
Package
Salary £45,000 DOE.
Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
