Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Grade H SCP 29 - £39,862 to SCP 34 - £45,091 with a professional bar at SCP 31 £41,771**

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Base Location: Tame Street Depot, Stalybridge

The Role

Tameside Council is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Officer who relishes the opportunity to take on a varied and challenging role.

The Health & Safety Officer will work as part of a team in supporting the Health and Safety Manager in the provision of a professional health and safety service to Council services and to external clients. The work of the service will support the Council’s aims and objectives and facilitate the effective management of health and safety risks, in order to ensure effective governance, statutory compliance and best practice. Their role will also involve giving advice and support to Council employees for their health and wellbeing, contributing to the implementation of the Councils Health & Wellbeing Strategy.

About You

Applicants must have an excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice along with experience of delivering health and safety training, carrying out audits and inspections, completing accident investigations and implementing safety policies and procedures. The role requires substantial experience of working within health & safety in a large organisation, ideally within a Local Authority.
