Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller – Portadown

We are partnering with a well-established and highly respected business to recruit an Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller for their high‑performing finance team. This role offers a varied and fast‑paced workload within a dynamic finance function, where you will play a key role in managing accounts receivable, supporting month‑end processes, and assisting with wider finance operations.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage all aspects of debt collection, ensuring customer balances are collected within agreed payment terms.
* Liaise with customers and internal teams to resolve invoice queries and payment issues.
* Prepare reports for monthly aged debt review meetings.
* Set up and maintain customer account records, including VAT validation checks and payment terms.
* Process cash allocations accurately and maintain remittance records.
* Create and post cashbook and sales journal entries.
* Complete weekly/monthly sales routines and process sales credit notes.
* Assist with management accounts preparation and reporting across multiple entities.
* Complete weekly bank reconciliations across sterling and foreign currency accounts.
* Support month‑end and year‑end close activities including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
* Assist with VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.


Qualifications and Experience

* Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Credit Control, or Finance role.
* Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
* Experience working within a busy finance team environment.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Experience with EFACS or similar ERP systems is desirable, but not essential.
* Strong communication skills with a proactive and problem‑solving approach.
* Motivated with a desire to develop and progress within finance.
