Purpose of the Role
To carry out repairs and maintenance to a high standard on a variety of On Track Machines operated by Colas Rail to ensure on-site reliability and safety in line with Colas Rail ROGS regulations.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* Shift pattern that may include nights and weekends.
* Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures when carrying out maintenance works.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work safely and independently without supervision.
* Ability to understand technical drawings and maintenance schedules.
* Flexible, honest and reliable.
* Extensive knowledge and up‑to‑date competencies on a wide range of On Track Machines.
* Structured, methodical approach to problem solving.
* Ability to work effectively as an individual or as part of a team.
* Completed an approved apprenticeship (internal or external) may be advantageous.
* Willingness to continue personal development through training.
* Positive outlook on continuous change to meet business needs.
* Curious mindset and willingness to challenge procedures and practices where appropriate.
* Commitment to safety and performing duties within experience and capability limits.
* Ability to promote and participate in teamwork across departments.
* Ability to recognise and repair potential equipment failures and maintain On Track Machines to a high standard, with openness to suggest improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair On Track Machines at the Home Depot to a high standard.
* Work safely with due regard to the well-being of yourself and others.
* Keep the workplace clean and compliant with Health and Safety and Environmental practices.
* Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
* Comply with local and company safety rules and instructions.
* Participate in safety initiatives and attend safety briefings as required.
* Complete documentation for periodic maintenance and provide it to the Maintenance Team Leaders for review and filing.
* Work on On Track Machines away from the Home Depot when required.
* Attend work as per a previously agreed rota, including weekends and night shifts if needed.
* Be prepared to attend training to improve maintenance knowledge and competence.
* Be ready to lodge away from home if required to fulfil maintenance duties.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and present it for annual inspection.
* Drive company vehicles in accordance with the Highway Code and company procedures.
* Participate in samples analysis and related tasks as part of the Condition Based Monitoring scheme.
* Comply with procedures for issuing equipment from Depot stores.
* Participate actively in the company competency assessment programme.
