If so, East Sussex may have the opportunity you are looking for. This post will give you the chance to develop new or existing skills in dysphagia management within the acute setting. We have an excellent relationship with our medical colleagues and SLT is highly valued throughout the trust. We are also very fortunate to have a wonderful relationship with our ENT consultants who have helped us to develop our FEES service for inpatients and outpatient clinics. We also run weekly SLT led videofluoroscopy clinics on both of our acute sites.
Responsibilities
* Develop new or existing skills in dysphagia management within the acute setting.
* Support less experienced therapists, assistants and students.
* Work alongside highly specialist clinicians in voice, head and neck cancer, stroke, rehabilitation and neurological degenerative conditions to further develop knowledge and skills.
* Join a friendly and enthusiastic team of acute and community SALTs to provide pathways of care to the local adult population, in line with organisational and Divisional objectives.
* Participate in research and service development; attend postgraduate courses/RCSLT CENs.
* Contribute to service development and planning; have protected time for CPD with monthly clinical forums and clinical supervision.
* Help develop the B5 rotation SLTs.
* Work within a county wide acute and community SLT service managed and professionally led by a practicing SLT.
* Engage with opportunities to attend relevant CENs and external training opportunities.
Qualifications
* Completed post basic dysphagia training.
* Sound level of experience working independently in the acute setting.
* Willingness to support less experienced therapists, assistants and students.
* Ability to work alongside specialist clinicians and participate in multidisciplinary pathways of care.
Team and Service Context
You will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic team of acute and community Speech and Language Therapists who work seamlessly to provide pathways of care to the local adult population, in line with organisational and Divisional objectives.
We are proactive in research and service development and staff are encouraged to attend postgraduate courses and RCSLT CENs. We have close links with the local School of Healthcare Professions at the University of Brighton and other universities.
