The role:
To support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients in a ward environment. To ensure patient’s health records are administered and processed accurately and remain confidential.
The post holder will provide cover in multiple wards as and when required. The post holder will be expected to undertake all duties such as reception of patients, answering telephone, appointment booking and maintaining demographic information on the patient management system.
Please note this is a GGC wide post and can be moved to any location, however initial base will be Gartnavel Campus
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. Full-time position (37 hours per week)
2. Permanent Contract
3. The shift pattern for this post will be Wednesday to Friday from 08:30am - 16:30pm / 36 mins lunch
4. Based in Gartnavel Campus
Key responsibilities:
5. Welcome patients, relatives and visitors via the door entry buzzer system (where available) directing them to ward bedrooms ensuring that security, health and safety and infection control measures are understood and adhered to.
6. Answer ward telephone calls taking/relaying messages for multidisciplinary team members.
7. Provide information concerning the condition of patients to relatives as directed by nursing staff.
8. Admit, discharge and transfer patients on TrakCare computerised Patient Management System (TrakCare).
9. Crosscheck bed census white board against TrakCare.
10. Pre-admit patients on TrakCare.
11. Generates stock and non stock orders as directed by nursing staff using the PECOS system.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
12. Knowledge required to undertake the role will be established through relevant in-house training relating to processes and procedures, TrakCare patient information system and stock ordering system with expectation of performing at a fully competent level within a specific time period (tbc).
13. Previous clerical/reception experience.
14. Previous experience of working with the general public in a customer service environment.
15. Good organisational and communication skills.
16. Keyboard skills.
17. Proficient use of computer systems.
