Job Purpose / Overview

This is a key supporting role, reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor and Management Accountant, where you’ll play a vital part in helping the department run smoothly. You'll assist in sourcing suppliers, raising purchase orders, and maintaining strong relationships across the organisation and with our external partners.

Contextual Information
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Head Office in Ross-on-Wye. The Purchasing Assistant will support day-to-day operations across purchasing, supplier management, and internal liaison with colleagues across departments.

Key Responsibilities
* Raise and manage purchase orders and goods receipts using the BC procurement system.
* Research and evaluate suppliers to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
* Verify and process supplier invoices to ensure compliance with agreed terms.
* Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure efficient procurement operations.
* Assist the Purchasing Supervisor in daily departmental functions and performance tracking.
* Deliver accurate documentation and support for internal reporting and service coordination.
* Maintain a safe and organised office space in line with company policies.
* Encourage sustainable use of office resources and equipment.
Experience, Skills & Requirements
* Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations.
* Skilled in procurement or finance systems (e.g., BC or similar), with strong Microsoft Excel and general IT proficiency.
* Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy work environment.
* Demonstrates discretion when handling sensitive information and consistently applies professional and environmentally responsible practices.
