Summary
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) must be a self-starter, team-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality service. Responsibilities include providing on-site technical and customer support for system installations at airports, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing complex X-ray or CT-based electronic and electromechanical equipment, including integrated airport systems like baggage handling.
System Types Include But Not Limited To
* Checkpoint CT and X-ray systems
* Explosive Detection Systems (EDS)
* Automatic Tray Return Systems (ATRS)
* Explosive Trace Detection Systems (ETD)
* Millimeter Wave Passenger Screening (MMW)
The role requires following protocols and best practices to resolve equipment or software issues. The position involves working independently, traveling to various airport locations, and transitioning to a dedicated airport service role after initial deployment.
Requirements
Applicants should have certified trade training and at least five years' experience troubleshooting and repairing systems such as X-ray CT, electro-mechanical equipment, and PLC control systems.
Primary Responsibilities
* Support installation projects and ongoing service activities
* Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test airport security systems
* Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and radiation surveys
* Maintain calibration of testing and survey equipment
* Train customers on system operation
* Follow maintenance and safety procedures
* Report issues, prepare RMA parts, and document activities
* Ensure customer satisfaction and coordinate activities
* Maintain tools, test equipment, and certifications
* Provide detailed reports on activities and system performance
* Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
Position Requirements
Must have:
* Relevant field service experience in integrated systems
* Experience with large electromechanical systems and high-voltage equipment
* Strong customer service skills and ability to work under pressure
* Self-motivated, responsible, adaptable, and willing to travel
* Ability to work on-call and off-shift
* Physical ability to lift/carry 25kg and push/pull 90kg
* Ability to navigate airport baggage areas
* UK Counter Terrorist Check (CTC/Level 1B) clearance or ability to obtain it
* Degree or equivalent in electronics, electrical engineering, military training, or aircraft maintenance
Highly desirable:
* Experience with X-ray or CT technologies in airport security
* Knowledge of Linux and Unix
* Experience with Siemens PLCs
