Mechanical Development Engineer
An established precision engineering business, specialising in high‑performance machined components and complex assemblies for highly regulated, safety‑critical sectors, is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join its Design team.
This is a hands‑on, varied role where a Mechanical Development Engineer will bridge the gap between design, manufacture and production readiness, ensuring customer assemblies are robust, practical and fully defined.
What You’ll Do as a Mechanical Development Engineer:
* Review customer assemblies for manufacturability and component suitability
* Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design or process issues
* Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the MRP system
* Ensure designs are production‑ready and aligned with workshop capabilities
* Support cross‑functional teams, from Purchasing to Account Management
Skills & Experience of a Mechanical Development Engineer:
* Engineering knowledge and practical experience suited to a Mechanical Development Engineer role
* Mechanical degree advantageous but not essential
* CAD modelling experience
* Understanding of workshop/manufacturing processes
* Confident communicator and team player
