We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional individual to join the Kent and South London area Installations team. The role focuses on site regulation under the Environmental Permitting Regulations, with a primary focus on Landfill/Deposit for Recovery, Biowaste Treatment and Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste treatment sites, as well as Paper and Pulp, Combustion, Incineration, Chemicals, Food and Drink, and Oil/Gas sectors.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring permit compliance by conducting site inspections and audits to assess operators’ ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources.
* Analyzing and interpreting environmental monitoring and performance data.
* Undertaking appropriate enforcement and remediation actions for non‑compliances and environmental incidents at permitted sites.
* Using influencing and negotiating skills to promote best practice.
* Co‑ordinating with other regulatory bodies, authorities and stakeholders.
* Engaging with people at all levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups.
* Participating in the assessment of and response to environmental incidents, including incident role availability and potential additional payment.
Qualifications
* Significant regulatory or equivalent industrial experience across a range of industries.
* Excellent influencing skills and success in developing good relationships in complex environments.
* Experience delivering environmental improvements using a range of tools.
* Team‑working capabilities and ability to support colleagues to achieve common goals.
* Proven ability to manage multiple demands on time in a prioritised manner to achieve outcomes.
* Track record of initiative and continuous improvement.
* Honours degree (or equivalent), ideally in a science or engineering discipline.
