Eastwood Health and Care Centre

The role:

An exciting opportunity is now available within East Renfrewshire HSCP to join the Community Treatment Room and Care Service (CTAC) team. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Healthcare Assistant to provide interventions to patients within the new Community Treatment and Care Services across East Renfrewshire, which are being developed through the local Primary Care Improvement Plan (PCIP) as part of the new GMS Contract, 2018.

The Community Treatment and Care service delivers care to individuals in Treatment Room, GP practice clinics & home settings across East Renfrewshire to patients who are referred by GPs and wider members of the Primary Care team. The service provides skilled interventions that encompass a broad range of technical expertise, health education and health promotion in order to promote and maintain independent living for patients and support for carers.

The Community Health Care Assistant will be expected to work as part of a team and have the ability to work without direct supervision to provide healthcare community care assistant support to patients in the community, treatment room clinic/GP practice and in their own homes. The post holder will support the delivery of effective patient care within a community setting. Daily workload will be varied and can cover several community settings within East Renfrewshire with a range of delegated activities. Clinical duties will include phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, oxygen saturations readings, assist with the collection of urine specimens, ECGs and Intramuscular Injections. A comprehensive training and competency program will be provided. Full driving licence car driver / owner is desirable to this post. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent part-time post of 14.4 hours per week.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

This post will based at Eastwood Health & Care Centre Drumby Crescent Clarkston G767HN.

The shift pattern will be 2 days over 7.

Key responsibilities:

The post holder will support the GP Clusters to deliver effective patient care within a community setting. Daily workload will be varied with a range of delegated activities.

The post holder works mainly without direct supervision

1. Clinical duties will include: (competencies in bold are required at taking up the post, training can be provided in others)

1. Phlebotomy
2. Blood Pressure checks
3. Oxygen Saturations readings
4. Assist with the collection of urine specimens
5. ECG
6. Intramuscular Injections

2. The post holder will attend staff meetings and clinical and mandatory training.

3. Participate in systems of practice support and personal development planning.

4. Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of information Act and ensure patient confidentiality.

5. The post holder will have the skills to undertake or assist with patients in emergency situations by providing basic life support.

6. Work within divisional and local policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure maintenance of safe working practices for patients and colleagues.

7. Maintain good relationships and use an empathetic approach to patients and carers.

8. Refer to the patients GP for any questions they may have on the patients condition or for any suggestions or complaints that they wish to raise.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

7. SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
8. Ability to work with people and as part of a team
9. Ability to work without direct supervision.
10. Good communication skills both written and verbal.
11. Full drivers licence
