We are delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Car Parking Engineer to join our friendly and experienced team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
This is a newly created role within our Highways Network team, reinforcing our commitment to improving car parking across the borough by developing smarter and more efficient car parking strategies that support accessibility, convenience, and allow us to the meet the needs of our residents and visitors.
Some of our recent projects as a team include the Hartburn Lane Junction Improvements and development of the UK’s lowest carbon emission roads.

For example, did you know we were one of the first local authorities to replace all of our streetlights with LEDs?
As a Senior Car Parking Engineer, you will oversee the Council’s car parking service, taking strategic and operational responsibility for service delivery. You’ll ensure our parking services are accessible, efficient, and aligned with both broader Council objectives and the priorities of external stakeholders.
In practice, you will:
* Oversee the Council’s entire Car Parking service, including on-street bays and season tickets, Blue Badges, concessionary fares and regeneration schemes.
* Develop and implement parking policies, Traffic Regulation Orders and play a key role in updating the digital TRO database.
* Manage a team of parking-service officers.
* Work and develop strong partnerships with other authorities and key partners of the Council.
* Lead on public consultations in relation to car parking schemes.
* Be the lead officer responsible for managing the drafting of orders and public notices.

We are keen to hear from individuals with the following:
* A degree level qualification in a highways-related field or equivalent relevant experience.
* Significant and demonstrable experience in highways engineering, with a strong track record of programme delivery.
* Strong and versatile communication and financial planning skills.
* A full driving licence
