Role Overview
We are recruiting an Operations Lead within the UKRI Talent team to support the delivery of UKRI Talent programmes, including the Policy Fellowships and the Future Leaders Fellowships. The role involves leading operational processes related to peer review and assessment panels, and contributing to the strategic development of UKRI Talent in line with the People and Culture Strategy, which aims to position the UK as a global leader in R&D by attracting, retaining, and developing talented individuals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the operational delivery of UKRI Talent programmes, ensuring effective management of peer review and assessment panels.
2. Promote consistency and quality in funding decision mechanisms, recording and addressing operational improvements.
3. Report and analyze data to build progress updates and inform decision-making.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across UKRI, its Councils, Innovate UK, and Government Departments.
5. Maintain clear communication with the community through guidance, webinars, website content, and responding to queries.
6. Manage team members' delivery and performance, including implementing training programs for staff development.
7. Line manage up to four direct reports, supporting their development.
8. Perform other duties or projects as required within UKRI Talent.
Person Specifications
1. Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
2. Experience in a research or innovation environment, with understanding of funding application assessment processes.
3. Excellent communication skills, including persuasive presentation and negotiation abilities.
4. Strong organizational skills to manage priorities effectively.
5. Ability to work with ambiguity, demonstrating initiative and judgment.
6. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships internally and externally at all levels.
8. Experience supporting operational activities through delegation.
