Job description

Position: SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary Focus (Full-time & Part-time Available)
Location: St Helens, Merseyside
Hourly Rate: £13.50 - £14.50 (based on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

Aspire People are excited to partner with a caring and progressive SEND primary school in St Helens, who are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time role, with part-time options also available.

This is a fantastic chance to have a meaningful impact on the lives of primary-age children with additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, calm, and inclusive atmosphere where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, foster independence, and enjoy learning at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 or small group support to primary-age pupils with SEND, tailoring approaches to their individual needs.

Support children with a variety of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and communication challenges.

Assist in the creation and implementation of personalised learning plans, behaviour management strategies, and targeted interventions.

Help students engage with learning through sensory, creative, and play-based activities.

Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, self-confidence, and independence in the classroom.

Collaborate with teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

We're looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a primary or specialist school setting (candidates with care or residential experience are also encouraged to apply).

Is compassionate, patient, resilient, and enthusiastic about supporting young learners.

Can form strong, trusting relationships with children who require additional support and structure.

Works effectively as part of a team and communicates confidently with staff and families.

Is committed to promoting safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing.

Is able to provide professional references.

Holds an Enhanced DBS or is willing to apply for one.

Why Aspire People?

A dedicated consultant who understands SEND and offers support throughout your journey.

Competitive pay rates that reflect your experience.

Opportunities to work in rewarding SEND roles across St Helens and Merseyside.

Access to SEND-focused professional development and training.

£250 "Refer a Friend" bonus*.

Details of the Role:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Both full-time and part-time positions available, offering flexible hours to suit your needs.

Pay ranges from £13.50 to £14.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Free on-site parking and excellent transport links, making the school easily accessible.

If you're a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant passionate about helping children with SEND thrive, this could be the ideal role for you!
