Overview
The post holder will support the assurance and compliance of the Trust's Medical Workforce against contractual standards set by NHS England. The role includes taking responsibility for specific areas of work within the medical workforce, particularly rota compliance, generating and distributing reports related to rota design and compliance as required, ensuring all rotas comply with medical terms and conditions, and addressing issues regarding the safety of working hours with the Guardian of Safe Working.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure medical and dental rotas are compliant with junior doctor contracts.
* Be proactive in ensuring rota information is correct and act as the first point of contact for creating or changing rotas.
* Provide expert advice to departments and specialities on rota compliance and contractual standards.
* Deliver varied and complex information to Care Groups and managers on medical workforce issues, ensuring Trust policies and national terms of employment for doctors are adhered to.
* Maintain e‑rota, ensuring all rotas are included, up‑to‑date, and archived appropriately.
* Train resident doctors for exception reporting and distribute all Resident Doctor generic work schedules in line with terms and conditions.
* Collaborate with the Guardian of Safe Working to provide data for board reports and exception reports.
* Assist with recruitment, selection, and employee relations queries related to rotas.
* Advises group managers, consultants and Resident Doctors on best practice for Resident Doctor rotas and liaise with recruitment and selection teams for rota changes reflected in contracts and databases.
* Design rotas for less‑than‑full‑time trainees, completing LTFT paperwork and liaising with group managers regarding working arrangements.
* Produce information for generic work schedules outlining working hours, shift patterns, pay structures and educational opportunities, ensuring a schedule is provided at least 8 weeks before commencement.
* Coordinate the development of complex rotas for medical and dental staff, ensuring compliance with Resident Doctor terms, patient care, education, training, and personal needs.
* Advise clinical group managers and Resident Doctors on the implications of proposals to change rotas, including impact on compliance with contracts or training requirements.
* Update e‑rota and issue new contracts of employment as required following rota changes.
Candidate Skills and Experience
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
* Ability to work in a busy environment with ever‑changing priorities and deadlines.
* Previous experience in an NHS medical workforce/staffing role desirable; full training will be provided.
