Education and Inclusion Services Directorate are seeking applications for a highly motivated Childcare & Early Years Capital Project Officer to oversee the Childcare & Early Years Capital Grant programme, funded by Welsh Government. The successful applicant will be a key part of the 21st Century Schools Team based in the Valleys Innovation Centre, Abercynon, ensuring the successful delivery of childcare and early years capital projects, and the successful implementation and administration of the Childcare & Early Years Small Capital Grant Scheme. The post is for 37 hours per week.
Main responsibilities of the role include developing and assisting in the production of funding bids and delivering childcare and early years capital projects. The role will also involve the coordination of the Childcare & Early Years Small Capital Grant scheme, which enables childcare providers to apply for funding to make small-scale capital improvements to their venues.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational skills and experience in writing funding bids and delivering capital projects to programme. They will act as the client representative on capital schemes and be involved in stakeholder and public consultation events. They should have excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with a variety of stakeholders across the public and private sectors.
The job description and person specification are attached. The post is temporary until 31 March 2026. However, as the Childcare & Early Years Capital Programme is a three-year programme until 2028, funding beyond 2025 may be possible.
