The Falkland Island Government Health & Social Services Department are looking for an experienced ODP/Theatre Practitioner to join our small theatre team to provide emergency and elective care to the residents and visitors of the Falkland Islands.
We are based in the King Edward Memorial Hospital in the Islands’ city, Stanley. Here we look after a broad spectrum of patients from newborn to older people of many different nationalities.
The service follows UK practices’ and standards of care, modified to meet local needs and circumstances.

* £35k - £40k plus 25% Gratuity (taxable) & Flights and Relocation Package
* 37.5 hours per week including evenings/nights/weekends
The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced ODP/Theatre Practitioner to join our existing theatre team. The role involves, but is not limited to, the day to day running of the theatre and sterile services department. Assisting in A&E, the application and care of plaster casts and working in ITU. We run a weekly outpatient/fracture clinic where we list patients for surgery and see any follow-ups, the department also provides a surgical service to visiting specialists.
You will be expected to work independently within a small team and participate in a 24 hour on-call rota to provide emergency care and aeromedical evacuations to Uruguay / Chile.
The Person
* HCPC Registered ODP / 1st Level NMC
* 7 years’ effective experience as a ODP / Theatre Practitioner
* Has the ability to work and communicate effectively within a busy multidisciplinary team.
* Is resilient and able to manage complexity and work in a changing environment under pressure.
The Package
* Fixed Term Contract up to 4 years.
* Starting Salary £35,774 to £41,168 (depending on qualifications and experience).
* Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract
* 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays.
* Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
* Flights Package for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.
