Shop Manager Lisburn Road Reports to: Retail Support Manager Hours: 35 hours per week (Full-time, Tuesday Saturday) Location: 559 Lisburn Rd, Belfast BT9 7GQ Campaign Service/Cause: Retail Remuneration: £25,098.19 per annum Overall Purpose of Post The Shop Manager will proactively train, develop and motivate a team of staff and volunteers, leading from the front to drive sales and profit. The role is responsible for creating an excellent shopping experience from high merchandising and display standards to offering outstanding customer service. The Shop Manager will also manage backstage operations, including sorting donations and preparing stock for sale, whilst also completing weekly admin reporting and processes according to financial and security policies. Key Responsibilities Finance and Security Drive sales and control costs to ensure that sales and profit targets are achieved. Review Profit and Loss report and action recommendations to drive profit. Ensure cash handling, banking and till procedures are adhered to in accordance with the Cancer Focus NI cash and security rules. Complete End of Day till procedures and report any significant discrepancies to the Retail Support Manager and Retail Admin Officer. Upload all weekly admin to SharePoint Retail files and report any anomalies to the Retail Admin Officer. Ensure shop is opened and adequately staffed during trading hours. Act as a Key Holder and ensure premises are properly secured and maintained. Commercial Review weekly departmental sales and action any required layout changes. Maintain high standards of merchandising and display. Provide excellent customer service and promote best practice within the shop. Implement seasonal layout and window displays to maximise sales. Ensure Cancer Focus information leaflets are on display and easily accessible. Operations Encourage donations and prepare stock to ensure that the shop is stocked to agreed levels. Price stock to return maximum income for the shop. Maintain a well organised and tidy backstage area. Order stationery and equipment supplies through the Retail office. Liaise with Retail Office for donation collections or deliveries. Human Resources Train and develop a team of staff and volunteers to a high standard. Write and conduct annual appraisals for Assistant managers. Ensure new starter induction training is complete and follow up with regular probationary reviews. Participate in all relevant training and initiatives provided by the charity. Be prepared to work at various locations as required. Gift Aid Promote donor sign-ups for gift aid and accurately input all gift aid donor personal details, ensuring compliance with data protection policy. Process gift aid items with correct individual barcode and price accordingly. Review weekly Gift Aid report and follow up with required actions. Management Reporting Review Weekly Sales Summary and ensure totals are accurate. Review Profit and Loss accounts to track shop performance. Analyse Departmental sales and make commercial decisions to drive sales. This Job Description is not exhaustive.
