Job Description:
A secondary school in Andover is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This full-time role offers a contract through to Easter, with the possibility of extension. You will be working closely with students who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), providing vital 1:1 and small group support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate with teaching staff to deliver personalised support, helping students stay focused, build confidence, and make meaningful progress. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 and small group support for students with EHCPs, both in and out of the classroom
Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting resources to meet individual learning needs
Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
Promote and maintain positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies where necessary
Track student progress and provide feedback to teaching and support staff
Help create a safe, encouraging learning environment for all students
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with students with EHCPs or Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable
A genuine passion for supporting students who face barriers to learning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to support
Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are a bonus but not essential
