Offer description

Submarine Safety Engineering Consultant ( CAT A or CAT B)

Permanent | Flexible working options | Multiple UK locations

Shape the future of submarine safety

This is a unique opportunity to apply your submarine experience in a role that blends technical expertise with meaningful impact. Working in partnership with a respected engineering consultancy, you’ll help deliver safety solutions that support the UK submarine community and contribute to a safer, more sustainable future.

Flexibility built in

Whether you’re seeking full-time, part-time or job-share arrangements, this role is designed to accommodate your needs. Offices are located in Bath, Bristol, Fareham, Glasgow, Plymouth, Weymouth, London and Teddington, with hybrid working available. Occasional travel to customer sites or meetings will be required.

Your contribution

You’ll provide technical safety support and subject matter advice across a range of submarine and underwater systems projects. Drawing on your operational or maintenance experience within Royal Navy submarines, you’ll help ensure compliance with UK legislation, regulations and safety standards. You’ll be supported with tailored learning and development to grow your expertise and progress professionally.

What you’ll bring

This role is ideal for an ex-Submariner looking to transition into safety engineering. You may already be familiar with nuclear safety management, hazard log development, HAZID facilitation or MOD safety frameworks, but what matters most is your ability to learn, adapt and communicate effectively. Professional registration (IEng or CEng) is valued and support is available to help you achieve it.

Why this team?

You’ll join a verified flexible workplace that listens to what matters to you. The organisation is committed to inclusion, wellbeing and sustainability, with a focus on delivering solutions aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. You’ll be part of a team that values your input and helps you thrive.

Benefits include

* Private medical cover (family included)
* Enhanced pension scheme
* 18 weeks enhanced maternity pay (after 1 year)
* Annual wellbeing fund for hobbies and interests
* 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays
* Holiday trading options
* Retail vouchers and professional subscriptions
* Family-friendly policies and inclusive culture
