The Secretariat supports the governing body and the university executive to make informed decisions within a defined governance framework. We provide specialist advice and develop best practice in governance, compliance, risk and assurance. The team ensures the University has excellent organisational oversight of key elements of what it needs to do and how to do it, working to develop consistent practices as part of our approach.
This role works across the teams, providing a full range of governance and administrative services on a day to day basis to the Chair of the Board of Governors, Governors, University Secretary and Head of Governance as well as providing administrative support to colleagues in the Secretariat. We are seeking a colleague who can work well as part of a small team and who understands how to provide a customer-focused administrative service.
Based on the Llandaff campus but with the ability to work flexibly, you will support our Board of Governors as they undertake their important governance role on behalf of the University. You will also help to manage the Secretariat office on campus, and have opportunities to get involved in the broad areas of work we do.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which has reach right across the University, in a varied role which will have a real impact on the ways of working in the Secretariat.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and who is happy to use technology to improve our ways of working. You will have experience of working with Boards and committees and the administration related to these and skills relevant for a digital working environment.
Additionally, You’ll
* bring knowledge of confidentiality and sensitivity in working in an executive support role.
* be able to work well under pressure to strict deadlines and plan and organise work and to work independently.
* have experience of writing draft minutes committee minutes or formal meeting notes; and of organising and supporting formal meetings or events, both anticipating members’ needs and resolving issues that arise on the day.
