Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer
Location: Carlisle and across Cumbria
Salary: per annum dependent on qualifications and experience
Contract: Permanent Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday with overtime and call‑out rota
NXT Recruitment is proud to be supporting a well‑established and growing engineering business as they expand their presence across Cumbria. Due to continued growth and increasing demand they are looking to appoint an experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join their team.

The role
You will be responsible for the service maintenance, fault finding and commissioning of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across a range of commercial sites. The role is predominantly field‑based and will involve both planned and reactive work including participation in an out‑of‑hours call rota.
Key responsibilities
* Fault finding on split multi‑split and VRV / VRF air conditioning systems including cold‑room applications
* Servicing and planned maintenance of air conditioning systems across commercial buildings
* Commissioning of split multi‑split and VRV / VRF systems
* Service commissioning and fault diagnosis of heat recovery ventilation systems
* Responding to emergency and unplanned breakdowns as part of the on‑call rota
* Completing work to a high standard while maintaining health and safety compliance
About you
* Time‑served and fully qualified Refrigeration / Air Conditioning Engineer
* Relevant qualifications to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
* City & Guilds 2079‑1
* Proven experience working on commercial air conditioning installations
* Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Full UK driving licence
* CSCS card preferred
