Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Contracts Manager to oversee decorating and refurbishment projects within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple contracts from enquiry through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role requires strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, along with experience in project planning, client liaison, estimating, and contract management. Familiarity with emails, PDFs, and job quoting software is essential (training can be provided where required).

The Contracts Manager will play a key role in maintaining client relationships, managing operational teams, coordinating resources, monitoring project performance, and supporting the continued growth of the business. Regular client meetings, site visits, preparing quotations, responding to enquiries, and overseeing project delivery will form a significant part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple decorating and refurbishment contracts from inception to completion.
• Plan and coordinate project schedules, labour allocation, and resource requirements.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality standards, and health & safety compliance.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to maintain strong working relationships.
• Attend client meetings, carry out site surveys, and prepare quotations for new and existing works.
• Monitor project costs, variations, and commercial performance.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Support the recruitment, development, and management of operational staff and subcontractors.
• Resolve project issues promptly and effectively, minimising disruption to programmes.
• Manage procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services where required.
• Maintain accurate project records, reports, and documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, or similar role within the decorating, construction, or property maintenance sector.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costing and quotations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, and operational teams.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, email systems, PDFs, and estimating/quoting software.
• Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and best practices.
• Full UK driving licence.
• A recognised health & safety qualification is desirable but not essential.

Salary

• £45,000 - £50,000 per year (depending on experience)
