Protective Services currently has a vacancy for a Animal Health Officer.
The Animal Health Officer role supports Fife Council’s statutory duties relating to:
1. Animal health and welfare legislation
2. Licensing of animal‑related premises
3. Cooperation with partner agencies during animal disease or welfare incidents
You will be expected to undertake a combination of the following:
4. Visit and inspect land/premises for animal health, welfare and imported pets legislation compliance.
5. Provide advice to farmers and the public on animal health, welfare, and pet import requirements.
6. Assist with licensing inspections for animal‑licensed premises.
7. Prepare reports and correspondence in line with procedures.
8. Undertake informal and formal enforcement, including service of notices and preparing case reports for the Procurator Fiscal.
9. Participate in partnership working with key agencies and stakeholders.
10. Keep accurate manual and electronic records; comply with internal monitoring systems.
11. Ensure compliance with data protection and equality legislation.
12. Carry out dynamic risk assessments for personal safety.
13. Plan and organise workload effectively.
14. Undertake all other duties appropriate to the grade.

The Person
You should be Educated to SCQF level 7, which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or must be able to demonstrate that you have been employed in an equivalent role for at least the same length of time that it would take to gain the required qualification
You should have:
15. Knowledge of Animal Health and Welfare legislation
16. Knowledge of animal licensing legislation
17. Experience of enforcement and investigation work
18. Skills relating to problem solving, conflict management and communication
19. Sound planning and organisational abilities.
