To support the classroom teacher and take a lead role in ensuring high-quality learning outcomes for all pupils within a safe and supportive environment. The role involves providing personal care, therapeutic interventions and safeguarding at all times. On occasion, and in the absence of the teacher, the postholder may be required to lead learning or take on additional responsibilities appropriate to the role. Key Responsibilities Act as class cover (HLTA level) during short-term teacher absence or PPA time. Hold specific responsibilities as required, such as communication lead, resource management, therapy lead (under professional guidance), moving and handling, or behaviour support. Support pupils' progress and development by enabling full access to the curriculum. Follow guidance from the class teacher to support individual learners effectively. Adhere to individual care plans, support needs and medical interventions, including (but not limited to) gastro feeding and administering medication, completing all required training. Ensure pupils are moved in line with written manual handling plans and raise any concerns with the Therapies Manager. Prepare classrooms and shared areas with appropriate resources and displays as directed.
