Copello is working with a defence client who is looking for a Draughtsperson to join their Mechanical Design team, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting a portfolio of aerospace products for military and civilian applications.
This role is ideally suited to an organized, proactive, and self-motivated individual with a methodical approach to maintaining engineering product design documentation.
In this role, you will support the legacy and development of current and next-generation products, using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
Key responsibilities
* Modification of new and existing products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) & 2D (AutoCAD).
* Checking, authoring, and implementing (CR/CO) design changes, specifications, and other data related to product build standards.
* Evaluating and considering the impact of changes on the product, including cost (UPC) and maintenance requirements.
* Assessing the effect of changes (CR/CO) on product conformance with performance specifications.
* Performing basic tolerance analysis of design changes, with a good understanding of inspection metrology methods, GD&T, and standard tolerance methods.
* Collaborating with other engineers and departments to implement changes.
* Assisting in investigations of product failures.
* Providing support to manufacturing.
* Producing and modifying detailed drawings for component manufacture and product assembly, including piece parts, assemblies, family trees, installation drawings, and data sheets.
* Managing parts lists and BOMs.
Qualifications
* Degree, HNC/HND, or OND/ONC in Mechanical Engineering or similar; experience will also be considered.
* Experience working in a mechanical design office is beneficial.
* Experience in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Nuclear) is beneficial.
* Experience implementing mechanical design solutions through the Life Cycle Management process.
* This role could be suitable for a first placement in industry or a seasoned draftsperson.
