Independent Member for Audit & Governance Committee
North West Leicestershire District Council is looking to appoint two independent members to join its Audit and Governance Committee for a four‑year term.
Role Overview
The Council’s Audit and Governance Committee plays a key part of the Council’s corporate governance arrangements, providing assurance with a high‑level focus on risk management, governance, financial controls, annual accounts and the work of internal and external auditors.
Responsibilities
* Serve on the Audit and Governance Committee alongside nine councillors for a term of four years, subject to approval of the Committee.
* Abide by the principles of the Councillors’ Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Interests form on an annual basis.
* Attend approximately five evening meetings a year and prepare for those meetings by reviewing prepared papers and undertaking training with other Committee members.
* Promote and ensure excellence in governance, risk management, financial reporting and counter‑fraud.
