We require rotational pharmacy assistants to work in our busy dispensary providing a range of dispensing duties for patients at Worthing Hospital. The post holder will also work within the receipt and distribution team on a rotational basis.
The post holders will also be offered the opportunity to undertake ward based training. This will provide you with the skills to work alongside the pharmacy team at ward level within Worthing Hospital. Your role will include checking Patient's Own Drugs and Transcribing medications for supply
Main duties of the job
This is a progression post from Band 2 to Band 3.
You will have a key role in supporting the pharmacy service to ensure we provide the best possible care for our service users and gain a qualification at the same time.
The successful candidate will participate in a rotation to include:
Pharmacy Distribution - visiting wards to ensure an adequate supply of medicines, supplying medicines to other depts internal and external against stock requests and receiving stock into the pharmacy dept.
Dispensary Services - dispensing, in-patients, out-patients, chemotherapy prescriptions and Sussex Partnership prescriptions. Reception work and dealing with patients and other hospital staff.
Clinical Services - talking to patients and relatives on the wards regarding their medicines, checking patients own drugs and a further qualification around this.
This is an exciting busy job that involves physical and mentally stimulating work.

Please note: This role does not meet the minimum criteria for visa sponsorship under the current UK immigration rules, which set specific salary and skill thresholds. Essential criteria for apprenticeship funding eligibility:
1. Aged 16 or above
2. Resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years.
3. Must hold a GCSE in Maths & English (Grade A*-C/9-5 OR functional skills in Maths and English
4. Must not hold a Level 3 qualification or above in the same training subject
5. Must not already be in any form of formal government funded education.
6. Ability to complete NVQ level 2 (if not already obtained)
