Overview
Are you a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who wants to develop skills and experience working with people with Complex Psychosis in the Norwich, North and South Norfolk area? Join our Rehabilitation for Complex Psychosis Community Mental Health Team based at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich. We are a multi‑agency team focused on creative engagement, person‑centred working and supporting people who face many challenges in their daily life toward recovery. The team includes social workers, recovery workers, peer support workers, substance misuse practitioners, Occupational Therapists, medical and nursing staff, administrators, Physician Associate and psychologists.
We are a clinically focused post with emphasis on high quality clinical care provision and outcomes. We work with people in their own homes, residential care and supported living settings, and occasionally in a mental health hospital bed. Occupational Therapy is valued as pivotal in helping service users identify and overcome barriers to living the lives they want to live. The caseload holding role offers opportunities to maintain core skills, supervision with an AHP lead, development networks, OT student supervision, and support to undertake OT‑specific assessments and treatments.
Responsibilities
* Provide care coordination within a low caseload Clinical Home for Complex Psychosis, and deliver profession‑specific assessments and treatments.
* Work in people’s own homes, residential settings and supported living environments, with occasional in‑reach to hospital beds.
* Receive supervision from a Clinical Lead AHP (Occupational Therapist) within a multidisciplinary team (including Community Mental Health Nurses, Peer Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, and partner organisations).
* Contribute to high quality clinical care and outcomes in line with NICE guidance for Rehabilitation (NG181) and Royal College of Psychiatrists Standards for Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Services.
* Engage in professional development, supervise OT students, and participate in OT networks and CPD opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Diploma / Degree in OT.
* Essential: Clinical supervisor qualification or willing to work towards it.
* Desirable: Relevant postgraduate training courses.
* Essential: Significant post‑registration experience; ability to demonstrate knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience.
* Desirable: Experience in supporting service development.
* Essential: Ability to deliver OT assessment/treatment with the designated client group; ability to prioritise own workload; ability to travel independently.
